Todd Gilson, Student Representative
Todd is currently a student representative for AASP, where from 2005-07 he served as Midwest Regional Representative. Todd studies at Michigan State University and is 4th year doctoral candidate under the guidance of Dr. Martha Ewing and Dr. Deborah Feltz. His main areas of research rest with motivational dispositions and the self-efficacy / performance relationship among collegiate athletes in a strength and conditioning setting. Todd holds a teaching assistantship at MSU, is a Spencer Fellow, and has received both internal and external sources of funding to pursue his work. Todd continues to serve as a guest lecturer for colleges and universities on the importance and development of strength and conditioning for athletes, as well as a volunteer consultant to football teams regarding psychological issues.
Before his studies began at MSU, Todd received his B.A. degree from Ohio Northern University in Sport Management and his M.S. degree from Oregon State University in Human Performance. While at OSU he served as the graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for football and men’s basketball. In the second year of his M.S. degree, Todd enrolled at Colorado State University, because of coaching changes, and served as director of strength and conditioning for men’s and women’s golf and the graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for football, men’s basketball, and track and field. Todd also holds memberships with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity (NASPSPA).
