AASP Awards & Grants
In an effort to recognize the Association members' contributions to the science and practice of applied sport psychology, AASP has established an awards and grants program.
AASP Awards recognize the outstanding contributions of student and professional members whose work advances the knowledge base and enhances the delivery of services to consumers.
Address all questions and nominations for AASP Awards to the President–Elect who coordinates all selection committees. All nomination materials and letters of recommendations must be received by March 1 of the award year.
Awards
Dissertation Award
Recognizes the completion of an outstanding dissertation by an AASP doctoral student member (More Info)
Distinguished International Scholar (DIS)
Honors the achievements of outstanding individuals from the international community whose scientific and/or applied work has significantly influenced the field of sport and exercise psychology (More Info)
Distinguished Professional Practice Award
Awards an AASP professional member who demonstrates exceptional quality and innovation in delivering sport and exercise psychology services to the public (More Info)
Distinguished Student Practitioner Award
Acknowledges outstanding and innovative service delivery in sport and exercise psychology by an AASP student member (More Info)
Dorothy V. Harris Memorial Award
Recognizes an AASP member, in the early stage of her or his professional career, who has made outstanding contributions that are both theoretical and practical (More Info)
Student Diversity Award
Recognizes and honors the achievements of students involved in research, service or applied experiences that focus on diversity issues (More Info)
Thesis Award
Acknowledges the completion of AASP an outstanding thesis by an AASP student member (More Info)

Grants
The Grant programs serve two purposes:
- to support Student Regional Conferences where student-centered programs provide an opportunity for students to present their work in a professional meeting format and
- to provide limited support to early career professionals or students for their research endeavors, or to fund projects where no other funding may be possible.
Address questions about the Student Regional Conference grants to the President-Elect or Student Representative who review the proposals.
Address all questions about the Research Grant Program to the Science and Education Division Head who coordinates the review process.
Student Conference Grant
The Executive Board of AASP is committed to supporting student-oriented professional meetings and may award up to eight grants for a maximum of $250 per year. The purpose for these grants is to help students defer costs associated with regional conferences (e.g., provide seed money) that promote student presentations and/or student-oriented sessions to discuss professional issues.
Research Grants
The Association for Applied Sport Psychology offers “seed grants” for research projects. Grants range from $250 to $5000, recognizing that the total funds available in one year are $12,000. The primary function of these research awards is to provide limited support to early career professionals (pre-tenured faculty) or students for their research endeavors. Secondary consideration will be given, pending available funds, for projects from tenured faculty or practitioners for projects that clearly benefit the members of AASP.
