Exercise Psychology and Wellness SIG
Development, investigation, and application of theory and research in exercise and other physical activity settings. Examples of areas of investigation include enhancing exercise adherence, examining the effect of exercise on mood and quality of life, exploring cognitive and behavior change strategies, designing individual, group, and community interventions for healthy and clinical populations, and developing training programs for exercise leaders. Exercise and physical activity consumers include exercise participants throughout the lifespan, sedentary individuals who are contemplating exercise, clients in psychotherapy, individuals interested in the use of exercise for weight or disease control, and individuals facing various life transitions.
