Hotel and City Information
2009 Conference
September 16-19, 2009
Sheraton City Centre
Salt Lake City, Utah
Salt Lake is a unique fusion of metropolitan city and quaint mountain town; the towering Wasatch Mountains that embrace Salt Lake offer a dramatic backdrop to the vibrancy and activities of downtown.
If you haven't been to Salt Lake in the past few years, you're in for a treat: whether it's on the nearby ski slopes or the sleek new TRAX light-rail train. Since hosting the Olympic Winter Games of 2002, this city of more than 178,000 has gone from good to great.
You can enjoy the animal antics and winged wonders at the zoo or aviary. Hop aboard a sunset dinner cruise on the Great Salt Lake, or take in a concert by the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Or visit one of fifteen national parks and monuments, all within a day's drive.

In addition to its easy accessibility from anywhere in the country, Salt Lake has established itself as a major outdoor destination in a cosmopolitan setting. Salt Lake's world-class ski resorts--Alta, Brighton, Snowbird and Solitude--are all within 30 minutes of downtown.
Rising up from the Salt Lake valley, the vertical peaks of the Rocky Mountains are more than just a pretty backdrop. Salt Lake's close mountains include hundreds of miles of bisecting hiking paths. Twenty minutes from the city center, hikers can be deep in the Rocky Mountains on trails that run by streams, mountain lakes, Aspen groves, and evergreen forests.
Hikes in Salt Lake's mountains include flat, creek-side strolls and narrow, steep switchbacks concluding at the top of 11,000-foot peaks. Most, however, involve little equipment and no prior experience. Sturdy, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, a water bottle and putting one foot in front of the other are the key requirements.

So you’re interested in great food. Salt Lake City is the place for you. The city and its nearby canyons tempt diners with an appetizing selection of restaurants, populated by world-traveled chefs (recently termed the “Great Salt Lake Chef Migration”) cooking local and regional ingredients and serving them with award-winning wine lists. From Rocky Mountain cuisine to superb sushi, it's all here.

Add some educational experiences to your Salt Lake trip with excursions to Dinosaur museums, art galleries, or world-class ballet, opera, and symphony performances. No matter the season, you'll find something to add a little enlightenment to your Salt Lake experience.
Now if you’re interested in the shopping that Salt Lake City has to offer, it’s interesting to note that the first department store in the United States opened for business right here in 1868. Today the Salt Lake Valley offers plenty of possibilities for terrific shopping excursions, including malls, shopping villages, specialty boutiques, antique and collectible shops, bookstores, factory outlet malls, outdoor shopping and entertainment destinations. Name it and you can find it in Salt Lake City.
