Overview

In an effort to recognize the AASP’s student members' contributions to the science and practice of applied sport psychology, AASP has established an awards and grants program. Any AASP student member is encouraged to apply for awards / grants, provided the meet the necessary requirements outlined for each award / grant.

Unless otherwise noted, address all questions and nominations for AASP Awards to the President–Elect, who coordinates all selection committees, and all questions for the Grants program to the Science and Education Division Head, who coordinates the review process.
 
 

Award Applications

The awards recognize student members for their work to advance the knowledge base and enhance the delivery of services to consumers. Outlined below are student awards available:

 

Distinguished Student Practitioner Award

AASP is pleased to accept nominations for the Distinguished Student Practice Award. This award recognizes outstanding or innovative service delivery in sport psychology by a student member of AASP. This award may not be awarded annually. Service delivery and client is defined broadly and reaches across all areas of AASP.

Student Diversity Award

Grant Applications


Student Conference Grant

The Executive Board of AASP is committed to supporting student-oriented professional meetings and may award up to eight grants for a maximum of $250 per year. The purpose for these grants is to help students defer costs associated with regional conferences (e.g., provide seed money) that promote student presentations and/or student-oriented sessions to discuss professional issues.

Grant Criteria
Grant applications must demonstrate they are student-oriented, the budget is specific and appropriate, and other funding sources have been investigated. Student-oriented will be defined as:

Research Grants

The Association for Applied Sport Psychology offers “seed grants” for research projects. Grants range from $250 to $5000, recognizing that the total funds available in one year is $12,000.

Purpose
The Association for Applied Sport Psychology offers “seed grants” for research projects. Grants range from $250 to $5000, recognizing that the total funds available in one year are $12,000. The primary function of these research awards is to provide limited support to early career professionals (pre-tenured faculty) or students for their research endeavors. Secondary consideration will be given, pending available funds, for projects from tenured faculty or practitioners for projects that clearly benefit the members of AASP. In general, proposals must:
