We are happy to announce a call for proposals for the 5th Annual Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) Diversity in Sport Regional Conference. This year's conference will be hosted virtually on April 16-17, 2021.
The abstract submission deadline is March 12, 2021. To learn more about the conference or abstract submission types, please review the information below, visit our Diversity in Sport Conference website, and/or email DiversityInSportConference2021@gmail.com.
The purpose of the AASP Diversity in Sport Regional Conference is to provide traditionally underrepresented students and early career professionals interested in careers in applied sport and exercise psychology (SEP) settings with a research outlet and networking opportunities. Abstracts are highly encouraged and prioritized for students. The event is held annually at a historically black college and university (HBCU)’s or minority and Hispanic serving institution (MSIs and HSIs) but is being held virtually in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference is jointly coordinated by AASP’s Diversity Committee, UNC Greensboro, and Winston-Salem State University.
We invite proposals for symposia, workshops, lectures, panels, and posters broadly focused on diversity, inclusion, and social justice within applied SEP settings. Since this conference is interdisciplinary in nature and informed by SEP, sport history, sport sociology, and sport management, we will also consider proposals related to organizational studies, gender studies, cultural studies, body studies, and physical culture/cultural studies.
AASP is a leading organization for sport psychology consultants and professionals who work with athletes, coaches, non-sport performers (actors, dancers, musicians), business professionals, and tactical occupations (military, fire-rescue, police) to enhance their performance from a psychological standpoint.
