Diversity Month Announcements - January & February

Greetings AASP! We'd like to draw your attention to these important dates in January and February. January 15th is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day; visit The King Center to learn more about Dr. King's legacy, social justice and civil rights in America, and reflect on the ways you can support athlete activism and social justice in sport by reading this AASP Blog post by Drs. Kensa Gunter, Rob Owens, and Tanya Prewitt-White. January 27th is the International Day of Commemoration to remember victims of the Holocaust. Read the story of Harry Haft, professional boxer, holocaust survivor & 2007 National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame Inductee.

Black History Month is in February. Explore the National Museum on African-American History and Culture's "Sport: Leveling the Playing Field". February 1st is National Girls & Women in Sport Day. Learn more about the achievements of women and girls in sport here. National Eating Disorders Awareness Week is February 26th - March 4th.
