Editor's Note

"Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything."
~ George Bernard Shaw

With the holidays and the beginning of the New Year behind us, I hope that all of you had the opportunity to find some time and quiet to recover and reflect during these past weeks. Looking back at 2016, it has been an exciting, stimulating, challenging, fast-paced year; on many levels. Transitioning from 2016 to 2017 provides a good opportunity for not only personal, but also professional reflection. Looking at the world stage, “change” is a theme that emanates on many levels the current political, social and athletic developments in which we find ourselves absorbed. On a personal level, progress, change, development are everyday challenges for us as professionals, students, partners, spouses, parents, etc., as we strive to balance time, conflicting demands, and priorities. “Change” is also something that was at the heart of many developments that AASP as an organization underwent in 2016. The vote on transitioning to a new certification model was a very prominent one.

Moving the newsletter to a monthly format was another transition within the organization that happened in 2016. This was done in the spirit to keep improving the newsletter, to make it even more diverse, and to better serve the AASP membership as our readers. On behalf of the whole AASP Newsletter Committee, I wish you a successful 2017. To quote George Bernhard Shaw: Challenge yourself to change your mind, to inspire progress for yourself, your clients, significant others, organizations such as AASP… And if you want to challenge yourself to contribute to the ASSP newsletter: please email me at s.brueckner@olympiastuetzpunkt.org.
