Sebastian Brueckner, PhD, CC-AASP, Saarbruecken Olympic Training Center, Germany

"Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean." ~ John Muir

It has been an exciting opportunity to join the Newsletter Committee a year ago as an Associate Editor. The professionalism and leadership that Editor Tanya Prewitt and Publication/Information Division Head Sarah Carson Sackett have put forward was inspiring and motivating for me personally, and for the whole team. I want to thank them for their effort on behalf of the membership. I didn’t have to think long when I was asked to take over as the new Newsletter Editor and chair of the Newsletter Committee. I love public relations and know that I am blessed with another great team of individuals with whom I will have the privilege to work to bring you, our readership, quality information about AASP and the field of sport and exercise psychology in a timely, monthly manner. Interaction with the new committee at the conference in Phoenix was great and we are off to a productive start.

Along with the new monthly format, we have also been starting to reach out to several committees for regular contributions in an effort to successfully portray the full range of competencies and knowledge within AASP’s diverse membership. We will continue this effort but also welcome feedback and input from anyone interested in reaching out to us – please email me at s.brueckner@olympiastuetzpunkt.org.

In this issue, you will be reading a fun conference recap from AASP President-Elect Amy Baltzell, as well as a great research article by Nick Galli, who shares his findings on body image studies conducted with male athletes. The monthly Diversity Committee Announcement, News & Events, and Member Services Announcements round off the November dissemination. Personally, I enjoyed this year's fantastic conference with great presentations, interactions with new and longtime friends and colleagues, and as always, many opportunities for networking. And since I spent a week out West in Yosemite National Park following the conference, John Muir’s quote seemed appropriate to share here. May you have an opportunity this Fall to find balance and inspiration in whichever pursuit suits you.
