JOURNAL OF APPLIED SPORT PSYCHOLOGY – CALL FOR ASSOCIATE EDITOR

The Journal of Applied Sport Psychology (JASP) is a refereed journal designed to significantly advance thought, theory, and research on applied aspects of sport and exercise psychology. Submissions such as experimental studies, qualitative research, correlational studies, case studies, position papers, critical reviews, theoretical developments specific to applied research conducted in sport and/or exercise settings, or having significant applied implications to sport and exercise, are appropriate content for JASP.

JASP is a non-proprietary journal that is an official publication of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). Access to journal content is a direct benefit of membership in AASP and is received by its student and professional members. The publisher of the JASP is Taylor and Francis, Inc. of Philadelphia, PA. 

The responsibilities of the JASP Associate Editor include the following tasks:

  • Enhance the productivity and performance of JASP (e.g., increase submission rates, visibility of JASP to potential contributors and readers, etc.);
  • Assign manuscripts to Editorial Board members and reviewers;
  • Make decisions about manuscripts based on recommendations from the Editorial Board and reviewers;
  • Oversee AASP and APA ethical codes and APA and JASP guidelines as they pertain to the journal operations; and,
  • Nominate potential Associate Editors and Editorial Board members to the JASP Editor.  

The position has an initial term of three years (starting January 1, 2022), including an annual stipend, with the potential for reappointment on review.

The successful applicant will demonstrate evidence of the following skills:

  • A doctoral-level qualification (or the equivalent) in applied sport/exercise psychology or related area(s);
  • Editorial Board (or commensurate) experience for a peer reviewed journal;
  • A thorough knowledge of expertise in multiple areas of applied sport and exercise psychology;
  • Experience having published in peer reviewed journals; and,
  • Hold a current professional membership with AASP or be working towards professional membership in time for commencement of the position.
