Healing and Building Community: A Series of Post-Election Community Spaces

Time: Occurs every Wednesday starting November 4, 2020
In partnership with the AASP Executive Board, Advocacy Committee, Diversity Committee, International Relations Committee, Mental Health SIG, & Race & Ethnicity SIG
Join AASP for a series of healing and community spaces intended to help members process the results of the 2020 Presidential Election and uncertainty that may follow. Developed in partnership with the AASP’s Executive Board, Advocacy Committee, Diversity Committee, International Relations Committee, Mental Health SIG and Race & Ethnicity SIG, we seek to create a community of support, focused on healing together through embracing our diversity, as we embark upon the road ahead.

Healing & Community: Post-Election Space
When: November 4, 2020
Times: 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm ET / 9:00 am - 10:15 am PT
7:00 pm ET - 8:15 pm ET / 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm PT

Community is core to the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. The current political tensions and climate in the United States preceding the 2020 Presidential Election and the uncertainty that follows can be overwhelming. Join moderators from AASP's Executive Board as we create a community of support, focused on hearing from you and healing together through embracing our diversity, as we embark upon the road ahead. Together let's hold space for continued growth, healing and both commit to and work toward a future where all are seen, valued and heard in sport and society.

It is unlikely that we will know the results of the U.S. presidential election or down-ballot races on Election Day. Whatever we know, or don't know, we will come together to hold a safe and inclusive space for members to breathe, build connections, and unpack the outcomes of the election. Join moderators from the AASP Diversity Committee and Race & Ethnicity SIG as we create a community of support, focused on healing together through embracing our diversity, as we embark upon the road ahead.

Political tensions in sport, society and communities have visceral and lasting effects and do not disappear simply because a national election cycle has ended. Join AASP's Advocacy Committee in conversation around collective efforts to put into action AASP's commitment to inclusion and social justice. Together let's hold space to continue healing, and both commit to and work toward a future where all are seen, valued and heard in sport and society.
