AASP Executive Board Positions to Begin October 2025
President-Elect. The primary responsibilities of the President-Elect include overseeing AASP's Awards Program, current Strategic Plan (in tandem with the President), developing any presidential initiatives for introduction during their presidency, and, most importantly, training to become AASP President and lead the Association. During their year as Past President, they are Conference Planning Committee (CPC) Chair.
Term – 3 years (2025-2028); 1 year each as President-Elect, President, and Past President.
Professional Standards Division Head. The responsibilities of the Professional Standards Division Head include upholding professional standards for the competent and ethical practice of sport psychology. The focus of this division is the maintenance of rigorous and appropriate internal standards for key professional issues in sport psychology such as ethics and continuing education. The primary responsibility of this Division Head is ensuring that AASP, as an organization, aspires to and achieves a consistent, ethical, knowledgeable, and fair practice of applied sport psychology. The Division Head coordinates and oversees the activities of the Ethics, Continuing Education and Webinars / Virtual Conference Committees.
Term – 3 years (2025-2028).
Publications/Information Division Head. The Publications/Information Division is charged with improving the quality of all AASP publications’ and communications’ operations and output, and enhancing AASP’s publications and communications delivery channels using new methods and/or technologies. This Board member oversees the function and performance of AASP’s 4 scientific journals, publication of AASP’s newsletter, disseminating announcements and additional materials as specified by the Executive Board, and collecting, organizing, and disseminating email information to the members.
Term – 3 years (2025-2028).
Scientific Program Division Head. The Scientific Program Division Head is responsible for providing high-quality educational and professional development opportunities at the Annual Conference. The SPDH leads the Conference Planning Committee (CPC) with the Past-President and develops the Annual Conference program, which includes invitation of keynote speakers and panels, coordinating online submission of abstracts, assigning reviewers to abstracts, and scheduling the program.
Term – 4 years (2025-2029); 1 year as Division Head-Elect and 3 years as Division Head.
Student Representative. Two Student Representatives serve as direct liaisons to the Executive Board as a way to represent the interests of all AASP student members. They organize and communicate with student delegates, help to promote and select regional conference grants, and are responsible for planning and directing student activities at AASP's Annual Conference. Additionally, the Student Representatives coordinate and oversee the Student Development Committee.
Term – 2 years (2025-2027). Must be a student for the entire duration of the term to be eligible to apply.
