In an effort to recognize the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) members' contributions to the science and practice of applied sport psychology, AASP has established a grants program that serves two purposes:
- Provide limited support to early career professionals or students for their research endeavors, or to fund projects where no other funding may be possible.
- Support Regional Conferences where student-centered programs provide an opportunity for students to present their work in a professional meeting format.
- Research Grants
AASP offers “seed grants” for research projects. Grants range from $250 to $5,000, recognizing that the total funds available in one year are $35,000. The primary function of these research grants is to provide limited support to students or early career professionals (e.g., within the first seven years of their current profession as faculty/practitioner/researcher) for their research endeavors. Secondary consideration will be given, pending available funds, for projects from tenured faculty or practitioners for projects that clearly benefit the members of AASP. All application materials are due April 1. (More Info) - Collaborative Research Grants
AASP has established Collaborative Research Grants to support existing or emerging team partnerships between early career (e.g., pre-tenured faculty) or student AASP members and tenured faculty or seasoned practitioners (e.g., Certified Mental Performance Consultants® (CMPCs). This call is intended to support multi-investigator and multi-institutional collaborative research projects in applied sport, exercise, and/or performance psychology. The total funds available in one year total $10,000. Apply by April 1. (More Info) - Community Outreach Grant
The purpose of the Community Outreach Grant is to provide funding for projects that incorporate evidence-based practice and support local community initiatives that are congruent with AASP's purpose and mission, as well as the objectives of the Community Outreach Committee. Budgets must fall between $250 and a maximum of $5,000, recognizing that the total funds available in one year are $5,000. All application materials are due April 1. (More Info) - Gualberto Cremades International Research Grant
The Gualberto Cremades International Research Grant recognizes an international student as principal investigator, residing within or outside the U.S., for a research project focusing on sport exercise, and/or performance psychology from an international perspective, with particular emphasis on collaborative efforts from a cross-cultural perspective and/or approaching the field from a non-Eurocentric, non-U.S perspective. The research grant is for a maximum of $1,000 as well as a waiver of the AASP Conference registration fee for presenting the research at a future conference. Applications are due April 1. Funded by the AASP Foundation. (More Info) - Seed Grants
The AASP Foundation offers smaller "seed grants" (up to $500) for community outreach/research projects. The primary function of these grants is to provide limited support to AASP members (especially early career professionals/pre-tenured faculty or students) for their community outreach/research endeavors. Applications will be reviewed four times a year with deadlines of January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1. (More Info) - Regional Conference Grants
The Executive Board of AASP is committed to supporting student-oriented professional meetings and may award up to nine grants annually for a maximum of $1,500 per recipient. The purpose of these grants is to help students defer costs associated with regional conferences (e.g., provide seed money) that promote student presentations and/or student-oriented sessions to discuss professional issues. For all conferences, please complete the application by September 1. Notification will be sent approximately by November 1. (More Info)
