Adaptive Sport and Physical Activity
Mission
The mission of the Adaptive Sport and Physical Activity Special Interest Group (ASPA SIG) is to advocate for the needs of disabled athletes and mental performance consultants, advance research and program development focused on this population, and provide education on best practices when working with disabled athletes and performers. The populations of interest will range widely including, but not limited to, children with congenital disabilities, older exercisers with impairments, elite athletes with disabilities (e.g., Paralympians), invisible disabilities, and practitioners with visible disabilities. Specific topic interest will be broad and could include performance enhancement, psychosocial issues (i.e., motivation), and health–related quality of life.
