Bio
Michael Urban is currently the Director of Mental Performance for the Los Angeles Clippers. In this role, Michael supports athletes and coaches across the organization in performance, mindset, and sport well-being development for sustained success at the highest level. Michael’s specialties include delivering evidence-based mental skills training in both group and individual settings, integrating into the sport context, and enhancing team culture. In his work with coaches and athletes, he provides tangible skills and strategies to help people apply performance-enhancing techniques in their everyday environment. While coaching people toward a high-performance mindset, Michael’s mission is to help others achieve their biggest goals and develop into the best version of themselves.
Michael’s formal training includes a Master’s of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior from the University of Tennessee. He is also a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology. Prior to his time with the Clippers, Michael was an Assistant Director of Mental Performance at Clemson University and has also spent time at The University of California, Berkeley as a Mental Performance & Life Skills Consultant in the Cameron Institute, serving their student-athletes and coaches. Michael also served as a Senior Mental Conditioning Coach at IMG Academy where he worked with some of the highest-level youth athletes in basketball, baseball, and golf, as well as delivered to corporate clients, CEOs, and executives looking to find a high-performance edge in business.
