Kelsey Varzeas, Ph.D., CMPC, (she/her/hers) is a research scientist and clinician with Pennington Biomedical Research Center. Under the direction of Dr. Tiffany Stewart, she investigates female athlete resilience and well-being, eating disorders/disordered eating in sport, and the psychology of Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs). In her work, she acknowledges the unique social, cultural, physical, and mental stressors that athletes face.
Kelsey completed her Ph.D. in Educational Studies from The Ohio State University and received her Master of Education degree with a specialization in Sport and Performance Psychology from Boston University. In addition to obtaining her CMPC, Kelsey is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of Massachusetts.
Kelsey has been providing sport psychology services to athletes, teams, and coaches since 2015. She has a particular interest in the intersection of athletics, mental health, body image, eating disorders, and disordered/disconnected eating. Kelsey specializes in supporting endurance and mountain athletes along with amplifying experiences of women in sports.
