Mentor Profile

Kevin Barton is currently accepting new mentees looking to pursue their CMPC. Kevin has experience mentoring several graduate students and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors working towards their CMPC. Kevin works from a strength-based approach to develop mentees and focuses on helping mentees develop a strong base of interventions and skills to use with athletes and performers.

Kevin has created his own successful sport psychology private practice, Empower Mental Performance Consulting, LLC, as well as, a counseling private practice addition, Empower Counseling. Furthermore, Kevin has presented, published, and conducted research on several different areas and utilizes his experiences to provide a holistic approach to mentoring in the sport psychology field.

Kevin has had the experience of working with teams and individuals across a variety of sports and experience levels. Kevin has consulted with professional basketball players, Pathway to Formula 1 Drivers, Olympic hopefuls, and elite college and youth athlete and teams. Overall, Kevin's experiences will ensure that mentee's develop a strong and well-rounded base to begin their CMPC careers.

Amount/mentorship hour: $75-$125

Mentoring sessions are done virtually via Zoom for any mentees outside of the Chicago area. Mentees in the Chicago area are able to receive mentorship hours face-to-face. I also provide support to mentees via phone calls and text for quick questions.

At this time, mentees will need access to their own athletes for a majority of their hours; however, Kevin and Empower Mental Performance can help provide educational materials and tools for working with clients as needed. Mentees also will be invited to occasionally attend or lead workshops as part of their process.
