Overview
In an increasingly digital world, mental performance consultants face new ethical challenges in providing remote services. While technology has become a vital tool for virtual consulting, understanding the ethical implications has not kept pace with its rapid adoption. This webinar addresses these complexities by reviewing the updated Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) Ethics Code and offering practical examples drawn from over 30 years of combined virtual consulting experience.
Attendees will explore key ethical considerations, including maintaining competency in virtual service delivery, ensuring informed consent and safeguarding client privacy, and upholding legal and ethical standards in remote settings. Additionally, participants will learn how to evaluate the appropriateness of different technologies for specific clients, ensuring both safety and efficacy in remote consultations.
Through real-world case studies and actionable strategies, this webinar equips mental performance consultants with the tools they need to navigate ethical dilemmas, foster trust, and protect confidentiality in the digital space. This session is essential for any consultant committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards while adapting to the evolving landscape of virtual mental performance consulting.

About the Speakers
Carla Carter began working in the area of special education and advanced to various administrative and consulting positions. With her doctorate in school and system reform, she has been able to work directly with schools as well as different companies to help them create change to how they do things so that it yields a more effective process that benefits the students and/or clients. She went back to school after 25 years and earned another master's degree in counseling with a concentration of sport and performance mental performance consulting. Currently, she is the owner and clinical director of The Cognitive Clinic (since May 2017) located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago.
