Consultant Profile

Jenny H. Conviser, PsyD, CEDS-S, CMPC, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University, staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Conviser is a member of the United States Olympic and Para-Olympic Committee Mental Health Registry and is Founder and President of the Illinois Sport and Performance Institute where she and her multidisciplinary staff provide support and intervention services for elite athletes, artists, performers, medical providers and training staff.

Dr. Conviser holds Certificates of Training in Behavioral Medicine from the University of Chicago, Family and Child Psychotherapy from The Family Institute of Northwestern University and Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS-S) from the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (Iaedp). She earned a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science, has seven years as a NCAA Division One Head Coach, University of Wisconsin, Madison and is a AASP Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC).

Dr. Conviser served as a member of the Advocacy and Communication Committee for the Academy of Eating Disorders (AED) and directs campaigns to reduce weight and body related stigma and discrimination and to protect the privacy of athletes and performers with regard to body weight and mental health matters.

As a former member of the Psychosocial Committee of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP), Dr. Conviser participated in research, policy development, and physician training for the Pediatric Obesity Prevention Initiative, targeting the development and implementation of physician/patient communication training programs endeavoring to raise risk awareness and improve children’s health and well-being throughout the state of Illinois.

Other advocacy projects conducted by Dr. Conviser include design, implementation and analysis of a Northwestern University IRB Approved Research study designed to improve our understanding of communication difficulties among patients having eating disorders and their medical providers.

Dr. Conviser is Founder and President of Ascend Consultation in Health Care, LLC., providing clinical behavioral health services in the Midwest and dedicated to improving access to specialized behavioral medicine services in remote locations. Dr. Conviser enjoys teaching, supervision, research and public speaking on issues related to behavioral health.
