Call for Editor in Chief

JOURNAL OF APPLIED SPORT PSYCHOLOGY – CALL FOR EDITOR IN CHIEF

The Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) is now seeking applications for Editor in Chief for the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology (JASP). JASP is a refereed journal designed to advance thought, theory, and research on applied aspects of sport and performance psychology. 

The responsibilities of the JASP Editor in Chief are to complete the following tasks:

• Monitor submissions throughout the review process using our automated file-management system, ScholarOne;
• Assign manuscripts to Associate Editors;
• Make decisions about manuscripts based on recommendations from the Associate Editors;
• Nominate potential Associate Editors and Editorial Board members to the AASP Executive Board;
• Provide biannual reports to the AASP Executive Board;
• Collaborate with Taylor & Francis, the publisher of JASP, to publish yearly statistics;
• Chair the JASP Editorial Board meeting at AASP's Annual Conference;
• Complete other tasks as requested by AASP.

The position has a term of three years (starting January 1, 2022), with the potential for reappointment and an $11,200 annual stipend.

The successful applicant will demonstrate evidence of the following skills:

• A doctoral-level qualification (or the equivalent) in applied sport/exercise psychology or related area(s)
• Editor or Associate Editor (or commensurate) experience for a peer reviewed, impact factor journal
• A thorough knowledge of both researcher and practitioner expertise in multiple areas of sport and exercise psychology
• A thorough understanding of AASP and APA ethical codes and APA and JASP guidelines
• Applicants must hold a current Professional Membership with AASP or be working toward Professional Membership in time for commencement of the position.
