Death and Trauma Informed Grief
Mission
The impact of loss and trauma is well documented and affects sport performance, school performance, home life, work, relationships, and an understanding of life. How performers, athletes, coaches (at all levels) are supported after the death of a parent, sibling, teammate, or friend will shape how they grieve and mourn in life.
This SIG will be an opportunity for members to be able to start having conversations about dying and death. The goal is to engage in intentional dialogue to support and foster, individuals, a school-based or organizational value of respect, presence, and integrity stewardship.
This SIG is open to anyone interested in working with student-athletes (high school and college), performers, companies, coaches, military service personnel, first responders, and organizations who have experienced loss, trauma, and grief. We will hold this SIG to create a network of support and education to help each other when there is a tragedy.
