Positive Psychology for Sport and Exercise

Mission

The mission of the SIG is to provide a forum and networking services for students, faculty, and professionals interested in positive psychology as applied to sport and exercise. This group will advocate a focus on strengths and flourishing rather than weaknesses and dysfunction of athletes, coaches, and individuals in domains outside of sport. Opportunities will be offered to exchange ideas, collaborate on research, and develop projects related to positive sport and exercise psychology. Topics of interest within this group may include but are not limited to human strengths, virtues, authentic happiness, positive living skills, altruism, well-being, quality of life, flow, self-regulation, creativity, optimistic explanatory style. Information will be shared regarding current research and conferences pertaining to the field of positive sport and exercise psychology.
