Self-Compassion in Sport and Performance
Mission
The aim of this SIG is to provide a space for professionals within the field to discuss how to apply and implement self-compassion into their work with clients. Research evidence suggests self-compassion is associated with numerous beneficial outcomes for individuals within sport contexts, performance domains, and life in general; therefore, efforts aimed at tailoring this approach for work with athletes and performers is a worthwhile pursuit.
This SIG will provide group members with opportunities to network with other like-minded professionals, share research findings and resources, brainstorm how to best incorporate self-compassion with clients, and discuss solutions to potential challenges or barriers.
