AASP Executive Board Positions to Begin October 2019

We are currently accepting nominations for President-Elect and Professional Standards Division Head. Application deadline is April 20.

President-Elect.  The primary responsibilities of the President-Elect include overseeing AASP's Awards Program, current Strategic Plan (in tandem with the President), developing any Presidential initiatives for introduction during their presidency, and, most importantly, training to become AASP President and lead the Association.  During their year as Past President, they are chair of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC).
Term – 3 years (2019-2022); one year each as President-Elect, President and Past President.

Professional Standards Division Head.  The responsibilities of the Professional Standards Division Head include upholding professional standards for the competent and ethical practice of sport psychology. The focus of this division is the maintenance of rigorous and appropriate internal standards for key professional issues in sport psychology such as ethics, certification and graduate training. The primary responsibility of this Division Head is ensuring that AASP, as an organization, aspires to and achieves a consistent, ethical, knowledgeable, and fair practice of applied sport psychology. Additionally, the Division Head serves as an ex-officio member of AASP's Certification Council and coordinates and oversees the activities of the Ethics and Continuing Education Committees.
Term – 3 years (2019-2022).

Diversity/Inclusion Division Head.  The Diversity/Inclusion Division Head is an elected executive board position whose responsibility is to develop and execute the organization’s diversity and inclusion strategy. This position works with all members of the executive board as well as all AASP committees and special interest groups to integrate principles of social justice and inclusion throughout AASP’s initiatives, conference programming, membership services, certification, public relations as well as internal and external communication.
Term – 3 years (2019-2022).

Publications/Information Division Head.  The responsibilities of the Publications/Information Division Head include: overseeing the function and performance of AASP’s 3 scientific journals, overseeing the publication AASP’s newsletter, appointing the Association's Newsletter Editor, assisting with the coordination of AASP web-related activities, disseminating announcements and additional materials as specified by the Executive Board, and collecting, organizing, and disseminating email information to the members.
Term – 3 years (2019-2022).

Scientific Program Division Head.  The duties of the Scientific Program Division Head will include: leading the Conference Planning Committee (CPC), which is responsible for development of the annual conference program; coordinating the online submission of abstracts; assigning reviewers to abstracts; and scheduling the program. The Division Head would lead monthly conference calls between November and March, and a two-day in-person planning meeting at the current year's conference site in April/May. This position would officially begin after AASP's 2020 Annual Conference, with the elected member spending 2019-2020 shadowing Angie Fifer (current Division Head).
Term – 4 years (2019-2023).

Student Representative. Two Student Representatives serve as direct liaisons to the Executive Board as a way to represent the interests of all AASP student members. The student representatives organize and communicate with student delegates, help to promote and select regional conference grants, and are responsible for planning and directing student activities at AASP's Annual Conference. Additionally, the Student Representatives coordinate and oversee the Student Development Committee.
Term – 2 years (2019-2021). Must be a student for the entire duration of the term to be eligible to apply.
