The Men and Masculinities SIG works to provide education and advancement of positive and inclusive forms of masculinity within the field of exercise, sport, and performance psychology through:
- Offer workshops, clinics, symposium, and other events that accentuates the positive aspects of masculinity, male development, and male socialization (Kiselca & Englar-Carlson, 2010) within sport and exercise settings.
- Establish a psychoeducational group to assist SEP professionals with issues related to self-care and well-being.
- Co-publish white papers, newsletter articles, and blogs with other related SIGs (e.g. Exercise Psychology & Wellness, Mental Health, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology for Sport & Exercise) to keep the AASP community informed of how mental health, sport and exercise affects the development and lives of boys and men.
