Men and Masculinities

Mission

The Men and Masculinities SIG works to provide education and advancement of positive and inclusive forms of masculinity within the field of sport and performance psychology through:

  1. Offer workshops, clinics, symposium, and other events that accentuates the positive aspects of masculinity, male development, and male socialization (Kiselca & Englar-Carlson, 2010) within sport and exercise settings.
  2. Establish a psychoeducational group to assist SEP professionals with issues related to self-care and well-being.
  3. Co-publish white papers, newsletter articles, and blogs with other related SIGs (e.g. Exercise Psychology & Wellness, Mental Health, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology for Sport & Exercise) to keep the AASP community informed of how mental health, sport and exercise affects the development and lives of boys and men.
