Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC) Council Releases New Mentorship Hour Structure and Guidance Document on Mentored Experiences

In an effort to improve and streamline mentored hours accumulation and documentation, the CMPC Certification Council is releasing an update to the Mentored Experience component of the new certification application requirements.

These changes provide additional definition in the areas of direct client contact with individuals and groups as well as mentorship that is done individually or in group settings. A revised Record of Mentored Experience Hours Form and a revised Mentorship Verification Form are now available on our website under Mentored Experience forms.

There are no changes to the overall 400 required hours, however, there are important changes to the structure:

  • Minimum 200 direct client contact (100 with a sport context)
  • Minimum 150 support hours
  • Minimum 40 mentorship hours (minimum of 20 hours of individual mentorship)
  • Minimum 10 direct knowledge hours

In terms of mentorship, mentees must engage in a minimum of 20 hours of individual mentorship, while group mentorship has no minimum requirement. Additionally, group mentorship is defined as mentorship time spent by one mentor and no more than 15 mentees in a group setting. Please see below for a visual of the mentored experience structural changes.
