Bio
Growing up with parents who participated in sports at a competitive level and a sister who participated in sports, Victoria found her passion for sports. She participated in an array of sports such as soccer, basketball, cheerleading, track and field, and softball. However, softball was the only consistent sport that she played from the time that she could hold a bat to her time as a collegiate athlete. It was through her transition out of this sport that she began to recognize and appreciate the role of the psychological aspects of performance which eventually triggered her desire to pursue a career in sport and performance psychology. Victoria attended Willamette University in Salem, Oregon where she first earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Afterward, she attended John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, California where she obtained her Master of Arts in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Under the supervision of Dr. Michael Gerson, Dr. Kellen Lee, and Dr. Lindsay Blaine, she engaged in several applied internships with several different populations. Under the supervision of Dr. Leslee Fisher, Victoria was able to complete the hours necessary to apply for and pass the certification requirements allowing her to become a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC), having worked with several teams and individual athletes/performers. Following the completion of her graduate studies, she received her Doctor of Philosophy in Kinesiology and Sport Studies with a specialization in Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is currently teaching sport psychology to undergraduate students at Cal Poly while continuing to consult with athletes and performers.
