Jesse Michel, Ph.D., CMPC is the Owner of Mindset for Excellence, LLC. In his role, he will help you develop the mental skills and emotional flexibility that top athletes, coaches, and business leaders use to achieve excellence while reaching your personal and professional performance goals.
Jesse has worked with MLB MVPs, World Series winners, NBA lottery picks, US Army Soldiers, and NCAA champions. Through your work together, you will develop the same trusted strategies and techniques that world-class athletes and performers use to excel on the field, in the boardroom, and in life.

Jesse Michel helps lead the Performance Psychology program at Deloitte, helping to develop and scale programs for over 9,000 PPMDs and 75,000 US Professionals. Prior to working in business, Jesse was the Mental Skills Coordinator for the 2017 MLB World Series and 2019 & 2021 AL Champion Houston Astros.
During his time with the Astros, the organization won four AL West titles, three American League pennants, and one World Series championship. In his role, Jesse led the effort to develop, implement, and evaluate a
comprehensive Mental Training Program for the organization. In addition to unprecedented
success at the Major League level, over 70 Astros Minor League players reached the Major Leagues
during his tenure, a testament to the mental training processes and programs integrated
throughout the player development system.
Prior to working in professional baseball, Jesse spent four years working for the United States Army as the Lead Master Resilience Trainer – Performance Expert at the Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness (CSF2) Training Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. The mission of CSF2 is to teach resilience, sport, and performance psychology skills to Soldiers, family members, and DA Civilians all over the world. In his role with CSF2, Jesse provided hands-on training and self-development tools so that members of the Army family were better able to cope with adversity, perform better in stressful situations, and thrive on and off the battlefield.
Jesse is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant via the Association of Applied Sport Psychology and listed on the United States Olympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry. Jesse has a Ph.D. in Sport and Exercise Psychology and Masters degree in Counseling from West Virginia University, a Masters degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences from Ithaca College, and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego.
