Profile

I’ve talked to a number of sport psych graduates through the years and one thing I’ve noticed that almost all of them have in common is the overwhelm they feel in getting their CMPC certification.

When they look at the number of required hours they feel it will take years to complete. When they look at the application and requirements it’s instant intimidation. When thinking about taking the test, there are constant questions about how they’ll study and will they really be prepared?

They worry about how long it will take or even how they will do it. They wonder how they’ll find clients to consult with. They wonder if they’ll know what to do when they do get the clients.

I get it. I was in the same position not so long ago.

In fact, when I completed my Master’s Degree I was so overwhelmed with the requirements and prospect of completing it all that I avoided it. I told myself CMPC mentorship wasn’t for me. I’d help athletes in a different way that didn’t involve receiving CMPC status.

Well, here I am 5 years post graduation and I am now a CMPC. In those 5 years I’ve learned a lot.

**Disclaimer: it doesn’t have to take you 5 years to complete your CMPC requirements, I just took the scenic route.

These past few years, I’ve learned about the different nuances between working with individuals vs. teams. I’ve learned a lot about consulting with different sports. I’ve learned how to navigate the consulting relationship with athletes and their parents. And how to work with athletes within a collegiate athletic department.

I’ve learned how to have confidence in my knowledge and abilities. I’ve learned how to show up with the tools I know athletes need in order to develop an elite mindset.

I’ve also learned how to find clients. I’ve learned how to manage a private practice business, as well as manage a team of consultants.

When I graduated, I felt lonely in the sport psych world. I was intimidated and felt like there were very few opportunities. Your own experience might be similar, especially if you’re compulsively checking the AASP Career Page for internship opportunities.

My goal has always been to help as many athletes as possible. My mission is to help athletes learn mental skills so they can reach their full potential on and off the field. With this goal, I also want to help mentor and train future CMPC’s, so that we can continue to grow the field of sport psychology and continue helping athletes develop their mental game.

I’ve been in your shoes, I’ve trained and worked in many different sport psych settings and I’m ready to help you reach your CMPC goal!

During your mentorship:
- I’ll help you find clients/teams to work with.
- We’ll continue developing your consulting skills.
- We’ll discuss which skills to use in which instances.
- We will review and reflect on client sessions.
- You’ll have support as client issues arise.
- We’ll navigate the relationships between consultant, parent, client, and coach.
- We’ll get you to sit for the CMPC exam!

I will support you and help you on your way to reaching a huge career goal. You’ll no longer feel alone in the sport psych world because I’ve got your back.
