Profile

Dr. Woolsey was the original founder and developer of the UWS SPP Mentorship Program. With him as one of your mentors, you will participate in weekly activities and live discussions giving you one on one attention and a systematic approach to your learning and development as a CMPC.

Monthly supervision rates depend on the package of services provided. I can also assist you with finding clients from several different sports and experiences.

Mentorship is provided via face to face or by zoom.

Dr. Woolsey has a PhD in educational and counseling psychology with an emphasis in sport psychology from the University of Missouri. As a nationally recognized expert in the field of sport and performance psychology he is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC), Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), and member of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry. As the founder of Total Wellness and Elite Performance consulting, Dr. Woolsey has provided wellness and performance enhancement services to college, professional, and Olympic athletes, as well as to business leaders, executives, and university athletic departments.

Dr. Woolsey has received numerous teaching and service honors including the 2011 Outstanding Alumni Award from Northwest Missouri State University (NWMSU) and, in 2012, he received the Distinguished Guest Lecturer award from the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida. As a sought after presenter, he has taught several continuing education workshops and given peer-reviewed presentations for the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and the American Alliance of Health Education (AAHE), and the American Public Health Association (APHA).Dr. Woolsey’s research in health and sport psychology has been featured by CBS, ABC, CNN Health, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the American Medical Association, and many others. He has also served on an FDA panel to evaluate the safety of energy drinks. In 2012, he was filmed on the University of Western States campus for the ABC Science Television show called Catalyst to discuss the safety and performance implications of energy drink use.

As an NCAA student-athlete and scholar, Dr. Woolsey was an eight-time NCAA All-American in track and field (4 times in DI and 4 times in DII), Big XII Champion and 2004 Olympic Trials Qualifier in the shot put for the University of Missouri, and NCAA D-II National Champion for NWMSU. As a practicing sport psychology consultant and athlete, Dr. Woolsey still competes in baseball and most recently played in the 2015 Texas Winter League, and the Northwest Independent League (NWIBL from 2015-2020. He is currently the head performance and mental skills coach for the Kansas City, Monarchs.

Dr. Woolsey is currently serving advanced Combat Air Force Fighter Pilots and Instructors at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, NV.
