Fall 2020 Financial Report

Hillary Cauthen

Financial Report from Hillary Cauthen, AASP Secretary-Treasurer, on behalf of the AASP Executive Board

The end of Summer is upon us and many of us are transitioning into the Fall academic year. 2020-21 looks just a little bit different than our previous years. If we have learned anything throughout this period of pandemic, it is to be adaptable and utilize our support networks. AASP continues to support our members in so many ways, and I am beyond grateful to be a part of this organization.

Within this report is a midyear check-in on the Association’s financial status based on July’s financial numbers, the 2020 approved budget, current 2020 YTD spending, a comparison of AASP’s financial performance over the past 3 years, and the most recent statement of assets. AASP financials are in a very steady and solid place. In 2019, AASP financials exceeded $1M in income and expense. While a significant moment in history, AASP will continue to function strategically and responsibly with our financial investments. The 2020 budget was anticipating a break-even year and projected profit of $533. Given the current pandemic, we are adapting and will manage financial concerns, provide support to our membership, and continue with investments to move the field forward.

The AASP conference is always a highlight of the year and this year will be no different. The virtual conference will be a wonderful opportunity to increase our touchpoint with members and hopefully provide an avenue to increase attendance across disciplines. Please note, AASP is offering a discounted registration rate to the upcoming Virtual Annual Conference in hopes of making it affordable and accessible for all sport psychology professionals around the world.

AASP is currently working with Vermilion, an agency based in Boulder, CO to define a unifying brand and core identity that states who AASP is and what we do—something we have struggled with for a long time. This is an exciting initiative that we have financially prepared for over the previous two years. This investment will assist in promoting an inclusive and inspiring representation of our organization.

Thank you for your continued investment in the association. I appreciate the opportunity to serve and share our financial growth and goals. Should you have questions, concerns, or suggestions related to the financial activity of AASP, please contact Hillary Cauthen, AASP Secretary-Treasurer at drcauthen@txopps.com.
