IN MEMORIAM: Dr. Robert Brustad

It is with great sadness to inform you that Bob Brustad passed away on February 6, 2022, after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was 69 years old. Bob’s research on parental beliefs and behaviors on young people’s developmental outcomes strongly shaped the theoretical and scholarly approach to this area. Bob served AASP in many capacities—on the executive board as social psychology area chair, on the editorial board of JASP, as associate editor of the newsletter, and in giving conference presentations spanning three decades. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology from 1998-2000 and as Associate Editor of Psychology of Sport and Exercise and Revista Iberoamericana de Psicologia del Deporte. His fluency in Spanish and Portuguese led to collaborations in Europe and South America that broadened the reach of sport and exercise psychology. His obituary can be found here.
